In this week’s Business in 2024 webinar, Bond collegiate sports attorney Kyle D. Ritchie recorded a brief video to recap the latest development in the House v. NCAA antitrust settlement. On September 5, a judge declined to grant preliminary approval to the $2.78 billion in damages the National College Athletic Association (NCAA) and its conferences had already agreed to pay current and former athletes for use of their name, image and likeness. U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken said she was uncomfortable with elements of the deal and ordered attorneys for both sides to go back to the bargaining table and return with revisions later this month.
