On April 1, 2021 the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) officially updated its Interim Guidance for Quarantine Restrictions on Travelers Arriving in New York State to remove the quarantine requirement for domestic travelers arriving in New York State from other U.S. States or territories. This updated guidance document has been anticipated since Governor Cuomo announced on March 11, 2021, that the domestic traveler quarantine requirement would be lifted on April 1. 

In addition to removing the domestic traveler quarantine requirement, the updated NYSDOH guidance document also provides other important information, including:

• The NYSDOH is still recommending (but not requiring) a quarantine for asymptomatic domestic travelers who are not fully vaccinated or have not recovered from laboratory confirmed COVID-19 within the past three months;
• All travelers, domestic or international, must continue to fill out the New York State Travel Form upon entering New York unless they are coming from a contiguous state for routine work purposes or have been out of the State for less than 24 hours;
• Travelers from Canada, crossing at land borders subject to the agreement between the United States and Canada, do not need to quarantine due solely to federally authorized travel;
• International travelers must continue to quarantine for 7 days (if tested 3-5 days after travel) or 10 days (without any testing);
